WINNERS of the Delicious Autumn! Challenge

This was one of the toughest choices for a Challenge! I read the reviews/descriptions of all the books suggested and decided on two (possibly 3) books that I will read, design a Limited Edition scent for and make all the Latherati goodies. They are:

The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury (winners finny321 & Ladytink_534)

-and-

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (winner Lynda)

-and possibly-

Pomegranate Soup by Marsha Mehran (winner Beathag)

I wanted to choose at least 10 more but there are only so many hours in the day! Congrats to the winners and thank you all for the amazing suggestions. Now, I'm off to read...

Light Bulb Moments and new goodies

New name for Lip Lusters!!! The other day my son asked me what a glossary was.
As I explained it, I stopped short and had a "light bulb moment".
Glossary...lip gloss...Lip Glossary!
Why didn't I think of it before? So, once I run through the labels I have on hand,
Lip Lusters will forever more be known as Lip Glossary. What do you think of that?

A new batch of Curiouser is curing. Funny, I can't seem to get the color I want.
This batch looks a heck of a lot different than the first batch. I want orange on top
and I keep getting these muted tans. Oh well, perhaps the next batch will look better.
Still good soap though and it'll be ready in four weeks :-)

A new offering will soon be in the Latherati shop, after many requests for perfume samples.
I will be offering them in sets of 3 for $4.50, your choice of scents, in cute little glass vials with a wand.

Another new offering will also be coming soon. One clue: Library Discardz

I will pick a book (or two!) that inspires me to design a Limited Edition Autumn scent. Something haunting? spooky goblins and ghouls...or maybe something romantic? tragic?

Just a note: I prefer classics and/or quality literature :-)

Contest Ends: August 26th, 9pm EST.
Winners will be notified by email by Aug. 27th.

The Prize:
One bar of soap & roll-on perfume inspired by the Challenge winning book

ARTfest at the MOTE

One side of my booth. The more shows I do, the more I perfect my booth.
I was happy with this display :-)

*****************
Beautiful weather, amazing artists, fantastic food and live music...that is a perfect day to me.
The ARTfest at the Museum of the Earth (MOTE) in Ithaca, NY yesterday was just that. Aside from my tent almost blowing away and my lip lusters being on the verge of a meltdown, it was truly a great day.

The Jane Austen Collection

I loved my neighbors. Brother and sister team, Deb and Joe of First Step Designs Glass Studio were so helpful to me with my tent and lugging my 50 lb. tent weights, I couldn't help but enjoy their company. I also picked up a piece of stained glass for me as well as one for my friend who is crazy for stained glass.

Their display was fantastic!

A leaf for me ;-)

A celtic knot/trinity for my best friend

A few of my other favorite artists:

found - beautiful mixed media art...lots of birds, I really like birds :-)

our secret treehouse - cute, simple designs on tees, cards, pins and more

One Swell Gal - gorgeous handbags made with really luscious fabrics

My studio is always in chaos after a show so today will be spent setting things right and restocking items that sold at the show.

Dry Oil Body Sprays...a little info

I just restocked the Latherati etsy shop with Dry Oil Body Sprays! These sprays are wonderfully moisturizing but not greasy. They leave a nice soft, velvety feel and absorb quickly without leaving a residue.

Try putting them in the fridge during the summer and spray on cool for a quick refresher.

Here's a little info about the amazing benefits so you can see what all the fuss is about:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride aka Fractionated Coconut Oil - an excellent skin moisturizer that is very light and does not clog pores. It's also a great massage oil and does not stain fabrics.

Jojoba oil - a liquid wax that contains proteins and minerals and is similar to our own sebum. It helps to lubricate and protect skin. It can help reduce the production of our own sebum which can clog pores. It also promotes healing and has antimicrobial properties which means it actually discourages the growth of some bacteria. This is good stuff, folks!

Cyclomethicone - This keeps the body oil from being too greasy. It imparts a dry, soft, silky feel that leaves no residue.

and of course, Fragrance and/or Essential oils - to make you smell good :-)

So, to encourage you to give these body sprays a try, I'm offering my followers a little incentive. Buy one Dry Oil Body Spray, get a second for half price! (a $4 savings). Use code: AWESOMESTUFF in the Message to Seller box when checking out. I will refund the difference via paypal. Offer expires Sept. 1, 2010.
